After volunteering all day at the Quackcyclists’ annual Knoxville Double Century ride, Ann invited Pudu, TBO and myself to join her Sunday King Ridge ride. As newbies to this route, the three of us were excited to finally check out this uncharted terrain as we’d heard a lot about this breathtaking 55-mile loop. We set out from Monte Rio with her Grizzly Peak Cycling friends just after 10am and enjoyed the punishing climbs, gorgeous ridge vistas — which we dubbed the “Sonoma County Seven Sisters” — and the dazzling descent down Meyers Grade and Hwy. 1 to Jenner. (Here’s a great description of the route we took from the Santa Rosa Cycling Club.) Then the Western Wheelers (who’d also ridden that day) gave us ice cold beers that we gladly downed in the parking lot back in Monte Rio. We’ll definitely come back for more!
